Thailand Flooding still Affecting Manufacturers
Most of the flooding in Thailand has receded, but some factories are still unable to start up. The worst news is that it is not known when this power will be restored.
A slew of companies have manufacturing operations in Thailand all involving test and assembly. There have also been several lead-frame suppliers that have been impacted.
1) ON Semi – The company is in the process of relocating as much of the product from its facility to other sites.
2) NXP – NXP’s Thai facility has been impacted and the company is seeking alternate sources for lead-frame from other qualified vendors
3) Rohm – Rohm was also impacted and is attempting to provide products to customers from other locations.
4) LAIPIS – the LAPIS facility was located in one of the worst flooded areas and is currently closed. The company is searching for alternate locations to supply products.
5) HANA – HANA’s facility is currently under water and is not operational.
6) Sumitomo – Has a facility that was impacted and is current shifting demand to other locations to avoid shortages.
7) Stars Microelectronics – Its facility has been flood and is relocating operations to other facilities.
8) Vigilant – The company shut down its facility even with no flood damage apparently there.
9) STATS – The company has suspended its operations in Thailand and is relocating assembly and test operations to offer facilities.
10) Toshiba – The company’s facility in Thailand stopped since Oct. 16 with more than 1 meter of flooding reported.
